You no longer have to remove all the rust before painting! Rusted metal is converted overnight into a rust-retarding paintable surface after using Prep & Primer. Converting rust from ferrous iron to iron phosphate, this product prepares the metal surface for paint or auto body filler to achieve maximum adhesion and longer life. After it is applied, it will turn to a whitish-gray powdery look.
IMPORTANT: Carefully read all directions and cautions prior to use. Only use this product as directed on the label. Do not use for any other purpose and do not mix with any other product such as bleach. Protect plants concrete, masonry and paint from overspray and flush immediately with water if contact is made. DIRECTIONS: Test a small area for compatibility when using epoxy or latex paint.
GALVANIZED: Paint can be applied when Prep and Primer is thoroughly rinsed within 30-60 minutes, and dried. Follow paint manufacturer’s instructions for undercoats and top coats.
FOR RUSTED SURFACES (To Remove Rust): 1. Protect hands with chemical-resistant gloves and eyes with chemical splash goggles. 2. Remove any oil, grease, & dirt from surface. Remove loose rust with a wire brush. 3. Apply product to affected metal full strength with a paintbrush, spray bottle or pump-up sprayer. Rinse applicator with water after use. Work the solution into rusted areas and allow product to dry overnight to fully neutralize rust. 4. Rinse or wipe surface with a damp cloth to remove any rust residue. 5. Dust off any loose powder, apply undercoat primer and paint treated surface within 48 hours of application to prevent formation of new rust. Two applications may be necessary to treat severe rust.
FOR TREATING METAL FOR PAINTING (Phosphotizing) 1. Protect hands with chemical-resistant gloves and eyes with chemical splash goggles. 2. Remove any oil, grease, & dirt from surface. 3. Dilute 1 part product with 3 parts water in a plastic container. 4. Apply product with a paintbrush, spray bottle or pump-up sprayer to metal. 5. Thoroughly rinse with water after 15-30 minutes. 6. Dust off any loose powder, apply undercoat primer and paint treated surface within 48 hours of application to prevent formation of new rust.
CLEANUP: Clean application equipment with water.
COVERAGE: Approximately 150 sq. ft. per quart.
DANGER! MAY CAUSE BURNS. SKIN AND EYE IRRITANT. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. Contains Phosphoric Acid. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Use with adequate ventilation. If breathing difficulty occurs, move to fresh air. Do not take internally.
FIRST AID – IF SWALLOWED, immediately call your poison control center, hospital emergency room or physician for instructions. IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, immediately flush with water, remove any contact lens and flush with water for at least 15 minutes, then get immediate medical attention. FOR SKIN CONTACT, immediately wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. If symptoms persist, get medical attention.

How long do I leave Jasco® Prep & Primer on the surface?
If applying to remove rust, let product sit overnight. If applying to etch new metal for painting, wait 15-30 minutes, and then rinse with water.
Can I apply Jasco® Prep & Primer over existing paint?
No, it will damage painted surfaces.
